In a new update, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force PRO, announces that IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has directed strategic security deployments nationwide to curb crimes during the Yuletide season. The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring public safety.
As the Yuletide season approaches, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reassured Nigerian citizens that comprehensive security measures are in place to protect lives and property. In anticipation of increased travel, public gatherings, and festivities, the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of additional police personnel to key locations, strategic areas, and identified hotspots across the country.
The IGP’s directive includes deploying officers to major highways, urban centers, and recreational venues. This initiative is aimed at boosting police visibility and deterring criminal activities, particularly highway robberies, which tend to escalate during the festive period.
In line with the IGP’s commitment to public safety, the Nigeria Police Force has already made notable progress in addressing criminal activities:
On December 10, 2024, officers from the Lagos State Command arrested four individuals—Akeem Alabi, Adewale Sogbesan, Emmanuel Izeagbe, and Francis Okoko—who confessed to being part of a robbery syndicate operating around the Costain area of the state.
On December 6, 2024, officers from the Anambra State Command arrested suspected armed robber Miracle Mwakaloi in Awka. Following his arrest, Mwakaloi led the police to his residence, where three AK-47 rifles were recovered.
The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its mission to create a safe and secure environment during the Yuletide season and beyond. Through enhanced patrols, community engagement, and a continued focus on public safety, the Force is determined to ensure that the festive season is celebrated free from criminal activities.
The IGP encourages citizens to cooperate with the heightened police presence, which will be carried out with professionalism and respect for the law. He also urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police or other law enforcement agencies.
