In a demonstration of his unwavering commitment to education and healthcare development, Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has donated ₦10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, Mbano, Imo State.
The donation, which was made over the weekend, underscores Obi’s advocacy for increased investment in critical sectors that drive national development. The institution, which initially started as a School of Nursing, has now grown into a College of Nursing Sciences, producing highly skilled nurses and midwives to serve the nation.
Expressing his confidence in the institution’s progress, Obi remarked, “I am delighted with the consistent growth the Institution… I am confident that my contribution to the College will go a long way in contributing to its growth.”
He reiterated the importance of prioritizing funding for education and healthcare over less impactful expenditures, emphasizing that these sectors are central to national development. According to Obi, “More funding to these educational and health institutions will not only drive national development but will enable us to raise an educated and healthy population that will contribute immeasurably to moving our nation from consumption to production.”
Obi also extended his gratitude to individuals who have supported the education and healthcare sectors through their efforts, resources, and time. He concluded with optimism, saying, “Our efforts in building a better nation will surely give us the New Nigeria we all deserve.
This philanthropic gesture aligns with Obi’s broader vision for a better Nigeria, driven by investments in human capital.
