Jerusalem, December 24 – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a heartfelt Christmas message to Christians in Israel and around the world, offering blessings for the holiday season while reflecting on Israel’s ongoing challenges.

Speaking from Jerusalem, Netanyahu expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the global Christian community, acknowledging their role in standing with Israel as it faces multifaceted threats. ā€œAt a time when Israel is fighting on seven fronts, we deeply appreciate the steadfast support of our Christian friends around the world,ā€ he stated.

Netanyahu highlighted Israel’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and values against adversaries. ā€œThe people of Israel are united in defending our nation against those bent on our destruction. We seek peace with all those who wish peace with us, but we will do whatever is necessary to defend the one and only Jewish state—the repository and the source of our common heritage,ā€ he affirmed.

The prime minister also emphasized Israel’s global role in combating ā€œthe forces of evil and tyranny,ā€ reaffirming the country’s resolve to prevail in its struggles. ā€œWith your support and with God’s help, I assure you we shall prevail,ā€ Netanyahu concluded, extending wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Netanyahu’s remarks come at a time of heightened tensions across the Middle East, with Israel actively addressing threats on multiple fronts.

  • Gaza and the West Bank: Escalating violence and repeated clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian factions have exacerbated long-standing tensions. Rocket fire from Gaza and Israeli airstrikes have further complicated efforts to achieve stability in the region.
  • Houthi Threats from Yemen: The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have increasingly targeted Israeli-linked assets and allies in the Red Sea region, presenting a growing threat to maritime security.
  • Syria and Iranian Influence: Israel has continued its operations in Syria, targeting Iranian military installations and weapon transfers to Hezbollah in Lebanon. These actions underscore Israel’s ongoing efforts to curtail Tehran’s influence near its borders.
  • Iran’s Regional Role: The broader geopolitical struggle with Iran remains at the center of Israel’s defense strategy. Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and support for proxy forces in the region are viewed as direct threats to Israeli security.

Despite these challenges, Netanyahu reaffirmed his government’s dedication to seeking peace with those willing to engage in dialogue while resolutely defending against aggression.

As Christians around the world celebrate Christmas, Netanyahu’s message underscores Israel’s resolve to protect its people and heritage while appealing for continued solidarity from its allies. The prime minister’s words from Jerusalem, a city central to the faiths of many, resonate as a reminder of the shared values that unite diverse communities in times of adversity.
