The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has intensified its efforts to combat organized crime, with recent operations leading to the rescue of 16 victims of human trafficking and kidnapping in Kaduna and Ogun states. The crackdown aligns with the 2025 Police Action Plan, aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing national security.
In Kaduna, police operatives on January 31, 2025, intercepted a human trafficking operation, rescuing 13 victims. The suspects, identified as Samson Peter (25), Haruna Duniya (45), and Abdulazaq Olawole (58), were arrested while attempting to transport the victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to dismantle the trafficking network.
Similarly, on January 29, 2025, the Ogun State Police Command raided a kidnappers’ hideout, engaging in a gun battle with the suspects. Five members of the gang were neutralized, and three kidnapped victims were successfully rescued. Law enforcement officers recovered various firearms, three mobile phones, N5.2 million in cash, and the victims’ stolen vehicles.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism. He reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring public safety and tackling criminal activities across the country.
The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing information that could aid in crime prevention.
