Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has officially welcomed Senator Shehu Sani and several other prominent politicians into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor assured the defectors that they would enjoy equal rights and privileges within the party, just like long-standing members.
Addressing a massive crowd of APC supporters at Murtala Square during a mega rally on Saturday, Governor Sani emphasized that there was no distinction between new and old members of the party.
“Someone who joined APC today and the one who has been a foundation member 10 years ago, they are of the same status. They will enjoy the same rights and privileges,” he stated.
Sani urged the new members to inform their supporters that the APC remained open to welcoming more defectors, attributing the party’s growing acceptance to its leadership at both the state and federal levels.
Reiterating the party’s stronghold in Kaduna State, the governor expressed confidence that the APC would continue to dominate the political landscape in the North and across Nigeria.
“In the 2027 election, the electorate will vote for APC in all elections, from top to bottom. At the top, our leader, President Bola Tinubu, will be re-elected. At the state level, the party will secure victories in the gubernatorial, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections, by the Grace of God,” he declared.
Governor Sani also reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to developmental projects across all parts of the state, regardless of party affiliation or ethno-religious considerations.
“Politics is different from governance. We will be fair to all, whether or not they voted for us, because that is the oath of office that we swore to uphold as leaders,” he added.
Among the notable politicians who defected to the APC were:
- Alhaji Muktar Ramalan Yero – Former Governor of Kaduna State
- Senator Shehu Sani – Former Senator representing Kaduna Central
- Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi – Former Senator
- Alhaji Sani Sha’aban – 2023 NNPP gubernatorial candidate
- Senator Danjuma Laah – Former PDP Senator representing Southern Kaduna
- Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha – Former PDP National Organizing Secretary
- Ambassador Sule Buba – Former Nigerian Envoy to South Korea
Governor Sani acknowledged that political leaders are not infallible and urged party members and the public to hold them accountable and provide constructive criticism when necessary.
“Leaders are human and can make mistakes. We urge the people to point out any mistakes so we can correct them,” he said.
The mass defection of key political figures further solidifies APC’s influence in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 elections.
