Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding the political crisis in the state. The governor made this declaration on Tuesday in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of the Judges’ Quarters, a housing facility completed under his administration.
Speaking at the event, Governor Fubara emphasized that the facility was specifically built for judges who are either indigenous to Rivers by birth or marriage. He reiterated that his administration remains focused on prioritizing the welfare and interests of the state above personal or political considerations.
“It has not been easy for the past 16 months, but what is important is the interest of our state, which must come before individual concerns,” Fubara stated.
He further assured that his administration would fully implement the Supreme Court’s verdict, stressing that the decision was not about him personally but for the greater good of the state.
“The Supreme Court has given its judgment, and my administration will fully implement it. It is not about me; it is about the good of the state,” he said.
Governor Fubara lamented the significant financial losses the state incurred during the legal battle, describing it as regrettable. He noted that such resources could have been better utilized to enhance the welfare of Rivers residents.
“Thank God for where we are today. I will continue to say that no price is too big to pay for the peace of our dear state. At the end of the day, it is about our people,” he remarked.
He highlighted that the completion of the Judges’ Quarters demonstrated his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of judicial officers. According to him, the project was inherited from the previous administration but was completed following recommendations and concerns raised by the Ministry of Justice and the judiciary.
In his remarks, the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, commended Governor Fubara for his dedication to the judiciary, describing the completion of the project as “another milestone and a significant accomplishment.”
