Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has expressed gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the commission rejected the petition seeking her recall.
INEC, in an official statement on Thursday, stated that the petition failed to meet the constitutional requirement, as the number of signatories fell below the 50% threshold of registered voters in the constituency.
Reacting to the decision, Senator Akpoti Uduaghan dedicated the victory to the people of Nigeria and commended INEC for upholding due process.
Taking to her official Facebook page, she wrote:
“On God, it’s victory for the people. One battle down, two more to go. Deep gratitude to my beloved husband, awesome support team, magnificent people of Kogi Central, and the great people of Nigeria at large. INEC Nigeria, you did well.”
The lawmaker’s recall petition followed her controversial six-month suspension from the Senate after she accused the Senate President of sexual harassment. Despite the political challenges, her supporters have remained steadfast, and INEC’s decision further strengthens her mandate as the representative of Kogi Central.
With this ruling, Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan continues to stand firm, reaffirming her commitment to serving the people who elected her.
