In what many described as a resounding show of party loyalty and grassroots support, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.

The party’s primary election, which took place on Saturday at the iconic Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, saw Soludo run unopposed. The process was marked by efficiency and orderliness, drawing commendation from party stakeholders and observers alike.

Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, the Chief Returning Officer, Uche Nwegbo, declared that out of 3,260 total delegates, 3,175 were accredited to vote. A total of 3,172 votes were cast, with 3,168 going in favor of Soludo, while four were deemed invalid. There were no dissenting votes.

“By the authority vested in me and in line with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I hereby declare Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo as the duly nominated governorship candidate of our great party, APGA,” Nwegbo announced to a cheering crowd.

Expressing gratitude in his acceptance speech, Soludo noted that the overwhelming support from party members reflects the deep-rooted confidence in the APGA-led administration. He assured party faithful and Anambra residents of his continued commitment to progress and inclusive governance.

“The journey so far has been nothing short of transformational. Anambra has embraced APGA as its own, and we have grown stronger together. I am truly honored to once again be entrusted with the responsibility to lead this charge,” Soludo said.

He emphasized that his administration has made significant strides without incurring debts, stating: “Our accomplishments speak for themselves. We are building a new Anambra—one that thrives on transparency, accountability, and innovation.”

The governor also highlighted the unprecedented level of unity within the party, pointing out that numerous support groups, civil society organizations, and even market women have aligned behind his second-term bid with both moral and financial backing.

As the momentum builds, Soludo used the occasion to announce his running mate, reaffirming his choice of Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, his current deputy. He referenced a lecture he delivered in 2017 titled, “If It’s Not Broken, Why Mend It?”—saying the same logic applies in this context.

“I’m proud to renominate Dr. Onyeka Ibezim as my deputy. Together, we have worked tirelessly to move Anambra forward, and there’s still much more to accomplish,” he added.

“This is not just another election; it is a mission to continue transforming Anambra. We’re not slowing down—we’re just getting started,” Soludo declared, setting the tone for what promises to be a defining political season in the state.
