In a move aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing administrative efficiency, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), has approved the constitution of new leadership for the Civil Service Commission and the Local Government Service Commission.
This development was made public through a Special Government Announcement issued on Wednesday. The notice, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Works, outlined the newly appointed officials and their respective roles.
Dr. Livinus Bariki has been named Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, which is composed of five members in total. Other appointees to the commission include Ambassador Lot Peter Egopija, Mrs. Maeve Ere Bestman, Mrs. Joy Obiaju, and Mrs. Charity Lloyd Harry.
In a similar vein, the Local Government Service Commission will now be headed by Mr. Isreal N. Amadi. He will be joined by six other members: Mr. Linus Nwandem, Lady Christabel Ego, George Didia, Dr. Tonye Willie D. Pepple, Barr. Richard Ewoh, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ofik (rtd), and Dr. Sammy Apiafi.
These appointments are part of ongoing efforts to reinforce institutional frameworks and ensure effective public service delivery across the state. All newly appointed officials are expected to assume office beginning April 7, 2025.
