Zikke, Plateau State – In the wake of a devastating attack that claimed over 50 lives in Zikke, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has issued a heartfelt apology to bereaved families, acknowledging the government’s inability to prevent the tragedy.
During an emotional condolence visit to the palace of the paramount ruler of Miango on Tuesday, Governor Mutfwang expressed deep sorrow over the brutal assault, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 14.
“I have been crying since yesterday,” the governor said. “I sincerely believed that all necessary measures had been put in place to prevent further bloodshed. Despite our investments in security, we failed you. Please, forgive me.”
This latest violence comes just two weeks after a similarly fatal incident in Bokkos LGA, highlighting growing concerns about escalating insecurity in Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang urged communities to remain vigilant and support ongoing security initiatives by providing timely intelligence and adopting self-defense measures. “We must not lose hope,” he added. “Let’s stay united and resilient as we navigate through these trying times.”
During his visit, the governor personally met with families who lost loved ones in the attack, offering words of comfort and solidarity. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rebuilding affected communities and restoring public confidence.
