Abuja, Nigeria – Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, has expressed his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, particularly in addressing national security challenges and driving economic initiatives aimed at prosperity. In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Jibrin highlighted the President’s success in combating insurgency and kidnapping across Nigeria.
Despite concerns raised by Senator Orji Kalu and Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State regarding increased violence in the South-East and North-East, Jibrin emphasized the substantial progress made during President Tinubu’s tenure, particularly in the first two years of his administration.
Senator Barau commended the efforts of the Nigerian military, stating that a significant number of terrorists have been neutralized in the North West. While acknowledging that occasional incidents of kidnapping and violence still occur, Jibrin noted that these have significantly decreased when compared to the situation before President Tinubu took office. “The menace of kidnapping along the Abuja-Kaduna route has been largely eliminated, and the Southeast has witnessed a reduction in the activities of criminal groups,” Jibrin said.
The Deputy Senate President also praised the ongoing efforts in the North East, particularly regarding the battle against Boko Haram. While recent attacks in Borno State are a reminder of the challenges that remain, Jibrin expressed confidence that the Nigerian Armed Forces would continue their decisive actions to eradicate remnants of the insurgency. “In the five other states of the North East, peace prevails, and the citizens are going about their daily lives,” he said. “This progress is a testament to the bravery and dedication of our Armed Forces and other security agencies.”
In addition to security improvements, Senator Barau also pointed to the launch of Phase One of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ), an initiative aimed at transforming the agricultural sector through innovation and investment. He credited the enhanced security environment for enabling such crucial developmental projects to take place.
Jibrin further called on Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to address the country’s fiscal challenges, attract foreign investments, and restructure the economy. “President Tinubu has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to correcting fiscal imbalances, clearing outstanding foreign exchange obligations, and addressing the financial deficit inherited from the previous administration,” he said. “Although rebuilding a broken system is no small task, President Tinubu remains focused on delivering the necessary changes for long-term prosperity.”
Concluding his statement, Senator Barau urged the Nigerian public to fully back the government’s people-centric initiatives. “These initiatives are designed to create lasting progress for the nation,” he stated. “I urge all Nigerians to offer their maximum support to ensure the success of these policies and ultimately lead our country to a brighter, more prosperous future.
