Elder statesman and leader of the Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as remarkable achievements in governance, noting that the President has “surpassed” his expectations since assuming office.
The 98-year-old elder statesman made this statement on Thursday during a courtesy visit by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at his residence in Akure, Ondo State. According to a statement issued by the First Lady’s media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Pa Fasoranti expressed profound satisfaction with the direction of the Tinubu administration and offered heartfelt prayers for its continued progress and success.
“I am satisfied with what he is doing in Nigeria. Well done,” said Pa Fasoranti, commending both the President and the First Lady for their dedication to the nation’s growth and stability.
Informal Visit, National Impact.
Senator Tinubu described the visit as informal, yet deeply symbolic. She conveyed her husband’s warm greetings and emphasized the enduring respect both she and the President hold for Pa Fasoranti as a national father figure.
The visit formed part of the First Lady’s two-day official engagement in Ondo State, focused on health and economic empowerment programs under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) — a flagship social intervention platform established in 2023 to foster inclusive development nationwide.
Earlier in the day, the First Lady met with over 60 traditional rulers at a special assembly led by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, who stood in for the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas. The royal fathers praised President Tinubu’s performance in office and lauded the First Lady for her strong advocacy in areas such as healthcare and women’s empowerment. They also pledged their full support for the Renewed Hope Initiative and declared solidarity with the President’s re-election bid.
Supporting Health Workers and Small Businesses.
At The Dome in Akure, the First Lady officially distributed 10,000 scrubs and 10,000 pairs of crocs to midwives across the South-West geopolitical zone, marking another significant milestone in the RHI’s healthcare support drive. She also presented a ₦50 million grant to Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, wife of the Ondo State Governor, for distribution to 1,000 women petty traders under the RHI Small Business Recapitalisation Programme. In addition, 200 of the beneficiaries received bales of fabric to boost their entrepreneurial ventures.
In her keynote address, Senator Tinubu applauded the commitment of frontline health workers and urged them to embrace continuous professional development. She noted that the distributed medical kits were designed to support the federal government’s broader goal of retraining 120,000 health workers — with nearly 60,000 having already completed the program.
Federal Presence and Local Gratitude.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed deep appreciation for the federal government’s interventions in Ondo State, citing the upgrade of Adeyemi College of Education to a full-fledged University of Education and the establishment of a new Nigerian Air Force School in Akure as evidence of responsive governance.
With the South-West now the fifth geopolitical zone to benefit from the RHI’s midwife kit distribution, the program continues to make meaningful impacts in the areas of health, education, economic empowerment, agriculture, and social investment — touching thousands of lives and strengthening national unity through grassroots development.
