Former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Mr. Peter Obi, has made a significant contribution to education and healthcare with a ₦40 million donation to institutions in Enugu State. This is part of his ongoing commitment to supporting schools, healthcare facilities, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and underserved communities across Nigeria.

Obi’s visit began at the Godfrey Okoye University School of Nursing, where he engaged with students, staff, and the university’s management. He praised the Catholic Bishop of Enugu, His Lordship Callistus Onaga, and the Vice Chancellor for their dedication to producing skilled healthcare professionals. In recognition of the institution’s efforts, Obi donated ₦20 million to help further their mission of enhancing healthcare education.

Next, Obi visited Amafor Ihu-Okpara Community in Nkanu East Local Government Area, where the Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Bishop Sam Ike (Prof.), is overseeing the construction of a new Community Health Centre aimed at improving healthcare access for rural communities. Obi contributed an additional ₦20 million to support the project.

“These donations are part of my belief that investing in education and healthcare is key to building a stronger, more equitable nation,” Obi stated. “When we empower our youth through knowledge and ensure access to healthcare, we lay the foundation for a prosperous future for all Nigerians.”
