A former member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Muhammad Gudaji Kazaure, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano State and transferred to Abuja for undisclosed reasons.

Kazaure, who represented the Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/Yankwashi federal constituency from 2015 to 2023, is widely known for his vocal criticism of corruption and national security lapses. He is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and gained attention in 2022 after accusing former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele of financial misconduct involving stamp duty collections—a claim the CBN later denied.

According to sources close to the matter, Kazaure had voluntarily visited the EFCC’s Kano office following an invitation but was detained and flown to Abuja on Wednesday. The reason behind his arrest remains unclear, and the EFCC has yet to release an official statement.

As public interest grows, questions remain about whether the arrest is connected to Kazaure’s past allegations or other undisclosed investigations. For now, Nigerians await clarity from the anti-graft commission.
