Authorities in Maui are investigating a shocking discovery on a United Airlines flight after a body was found in the wheel well of the aircraft’s main landing gear.
According to AP Report, The incident occurred on United Airlines Flight 202, which landed at Kahului Airport on Tuesday after departing from Chicago. According to the airline, the body was located in the wheel well of the Boeing 787-10, a compartment accessible only from outside the plane.
In a statement, United Airlines confirmed the discovery, adding that it is unclear how or when the individual gained access to the area.
The Maui Police Department has launched an investigation but has yet to provide further details. “We are actively investigating this incident,” police said in an emailed statement.
Attempts to obtain additional information from the Hawaii Department of Transportation were unsuccessful. A spokesperson for the department said no further updates were available beyond what United Airlines had already confirmed.
