The Chief Imam of Lagos Central Mosque, Sheikh Ridhwan Jamiu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership, stating that the president has not disappointed Nigerians since assuming office.
Sheikh Jamiu made the remarks on Friday during the Juma’at prayer at the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos, where President Tinubu was in attendance.
“We are proud of you,” the cleric said. “I remember that we encouraged people to vote for you during the campaigns. We thank God that you have not disappointed us.”
Highlighting President Tinubu’s competence, Sheikh Jamiu praised his wisdom and ability to lead, expressing hope that he would continue to fulfill the expectations of Nigerians.
“We know you are capable. We know you have the sagacity. We know you are competent. We believe and pray that you are not going to disappoint us,” he added.
The cleric also reminded the president of the spiritual and moral responsibilities tied to leadership. “Allah has entrusted Nigeria to you and will hold you accountable for this trust,” he said, urging Tinubu to remain steadfast in fairness and justice.
Quoting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Sheikh Jamiu emphasized the significance of righteous leadership, stating, “The most beloved of all people to Allah is the righteous and just leader.”
He encouraged Nigerians to remain grateful to Allah during times of prosperity and to practice patience during adversity, emphasizing the importance of hope and unwavering faith in challenging times.
The Juma’at prayer marked President Tinubu’s first public outing since attending prayers at the Alausa Central Mosque on December 20. The president returned to Lagos on December 18 after presenting the 2025 budget to the National Assembly.
In light of recent stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory that resulted in the loss of lives, President Tinubu had earlier canceled his public engagements.
On December 23, he hosted the inaugural Presidential Media Chat at his Ikoyi residence. Throughout the holiday season, the president has also welcomed private visitors as part of the Christmas celebrations.
