Enugu, Nigeria ā The Enugu State Government has entered into a strategic Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with Landmark Africa Group to rejuvenate the iconic Nike Lake Resort, a move poised to bolster the state’s economic trajectory and tourism profile.
Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah announced that this transformative partnership aligns with his administration’s ambitious vision of expanding Enuguās economy to $30 billion within the next six years.
As part of the agreement, the state government has entrusted the Nike Lake Resort as a critical asset, while Landmark Africa Group will inject an initial investment of N10 billion in the first phase of the project. This revitalization effort is expected to attract up to two million visitors annually, create substantial employment opportunities, and significantly enhance the stateās Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

āNike Lake Resort is a jewel of our state, embodying both our history and potential,ā said Governor Mbah. āBy collaborating with Landmark, a leader in the hospitality industry, we are setting the foundation for the resort to emerge as a world-class destination for tourism, business, and leisure.ā
The Landmark Africa Group is no stranger to bold, transformative projects. It is notable that a significant property by Landmark in Lagos was controversially demolished under the Tinubu-led administration in the name of constructing the Coastal Road project. However, the road plans were later adjusted, sparking discussions about the preservation of critical assets and the balance between urban development and heritage conservation. Despite these challenges, Landmark has remained a trusted name in the hospitality and real estate sectors, showcasing resilience and a commitment to excellence.
The governor also highlighted the administrationās broader infrastructure agenda, noting the allocation of N800 billion for development projects this year. This includes the dualization of the Enugu-Opi-Nsukka Road, a key project aimed at improving connectivity to the resort and fostering further investments along the corridor.
Governor Mbah extended an open invitation to potential investors, emphasizing Enuguās readiness to facilitate thriving businesses through improved infrastructure, enhanced security, and progressive governance.
āI commend Mr. Paul Onwuanibe, Founder and CEO of Landmark Africa Group, for embracing our vision and contributing to this pivotal project that will restore Nike Lake Resort to its former glory,ā Mbah added.
The partnership underscores Enuguās commitment to becoming a hub of opportunities, positioning the state as a key player in Nigeriaās economic and tourism sectors.
