In a demonstration of goodwill and community service, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has extended Ramadan benevolence to Muslim faithful and the less privileged across the country. This was revealed in a post shared by the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on his X handle.
According to Adejobi, the initiative, which has become an annual tradition, took place at the Force Headquarters Jum’at Mosque in Abuja, where essential food items and gifts were distributed to those in need. The event, attended by senior police officers, religious leaders, and community members, aimed to support the less privileged while promoting the spirit of compassion, generosity, and unity that Ramadan represents.
The Ramadan outreach initiative reflects the police force’s dedication to fostering a strong relationship with the public through humanitarian efforts. By reaching out to underprivileged individuals, the IGP aims to reinforce the values of empathy and social support within the force, encouraging officers to remain close to the people they serve.
“This is a period of reflection, kindness, and giving. We recognize the importance of supporting our communities, particularly the less privileged, and this initiative is part of our broader commitment to nation-building through compassion and service,” the IGP stated.
Beneficiaries of the initiative expressed gratitude for the gesture, acknowledging the significance of such support during the holy month of Ramadan. Religious leaders also commended the IGP for sustaining the tradition, emphasizing that such acts strengthen the bond between law enforcement agencies and the general public.
As Ramadan continues, the police force has assured that similar outreach programs will be extended to other parts of the country, ensuring that more individuals benefit from the initiative.
This annual act of kindness highlights the role of the Nigeria Police Force not just in maintaining law and order but also in contributing positively to the well-being of society, particularly during significant religious and cultural periods.
