Renowned economist and Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been honored with the Forbes Woman Africa Lifetime Achievement Award. The prestigious recognition was conferred during the Forbes Africa Leading Women’s Summit, celebrating exceptional women making significant strides across various sectors.
Although unable to attend the event in person, Okonjo-Iweala expressed her gratitude to Forbes Africa, describing the award as a great honor, especially as it coincides with Women’s History Month. She highlighted the contributions of trailblazing women before her and acknowledged the strength of the younger generation of African women making remarkable achievements.
In her statement, she also extended congratulations to fellow awardees, particularly her “younger sister” Acha Leke Oteh, while dedicating the recognition to all hardworking and accomplished African women.The Forbes Woman Africa Lifetime Achievement Award is reserved for women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, influence, and impact in their respective fields.
