The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the Mandatory Third Party Insurance policy, with implementation set to commence on February 1, 2025. This enforcement, directed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aims to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with insurance regulations among vehicle owners nationwide.
The police have cautioned motorists and vehicle operators against non-compliance, emphasizing that failure to possess valid Third Party Insurance will attract strict enforcement measures, including fines and other penalties as prescribed by existing laws.
According to the directive, all vehicle owners are required to obtain valid Third Party Insurance before the enforcement date to avoid any inconvenience. IGP Egbetokun has instructed all State Commissioners of Police to oversee the implementation, empowering officers to conduct checks and impose penalties on defaulters in accordance with legal provisions.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, stated that the NPF remains committed to ensuring road safety and safeguarding lives through the rigorous enforcement of traffic laws. He urged the public to cooperate in achieving this objective.
