Education advocate and philanthropist Alex Onyia is on a mission to transform schools across the Southeast into modern learning institutions. Through his South East Education Intervention initiative, Onyia has successfully renovated several schools and remains committed to ensuring that students in the region have access to quality education in a conducive environment.
One of his ongoing projects is the Ozuitem Community Secondary School in Abia State, which had been abandoned for 16 years. Onyia and his team recently completed the first coat of interior painting and are working tirelessly to meet the Friday deadline, fulfilling their four-week promise to deliver the school’s full rehabilitation.
Despite personal contributions, including his N1.5 million investment, and support from other donors, Onyia revealed that an additional N3 million is urgently needed to fast-track completion. He assured that the final output would be of top quality and built to last for several years.
Beyond infrastructure development, the intervention has also impacted human resources, as five new teachers have joined the Ozuitem school, further boosting the learning experience for students.
Onyia’s vision is to modernize all schools in the Southeast, ensuring that children receive quality education in an enabling environment. He continues to seek support from well-meaning individuals and organizations to sustain the project.
