In a striking revelation, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has expressed concerns over threats to his life and family following his New Year message. Taking to his Facebook page, Obi disclosed that while he had received various reactions to his message, a particular statement by APC spokesperson Felix Morka has raised alarms.
Morka allegedly accused Obi of “crossing the line” and warned of potential consequences. In response, Obi asked a rhetorical question: “Have I really crossed the line?”
He reiterated his commitment to speaking the truth and urged critics to point out any aspect of his message that might have been inappropriate or crossed ethical boundaries. Despite the threats, Obi maintained that he would not be silenced, emphasizing his dedication to upholding decorum while advocating for the country’s democratic principles.
“Our nation is increasingly drifting toward undemocratic practices,” he warned. “We are transforming into an authoritarian and repressive regime where freedom of expression is systematically suppressed.”
Obi encouraged Nigerians to revisit his New Year message, urging reflection on its content and intent. The message, he said, was intended to inspire accountability and progress in the nation’s governance.
