A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State has sentenced Nigerian street-pop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, to three months in prison for assaulting a police officer and obstructing justice.
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo, delivered the judgment on charges stemming from an incident in November 2022, where Portable assaulted a police inspector and resisted arrest during an operation to serve him an arrest warrant. The sentence includes an option of a fine totaling ₦30,000.

According to the prosecution led by Inspector Olumide Awoleke, the offenses occurred on November 18, 2022, around 11:00 a.m., in the Okeosa area of Ilogbo within the Ifo Magisterial District. The prosecution detailed that the singer conspired with others—currently at large—to commit felony assault against a law enforcement officer.
The charge sheet stated that the defendant “unlawfully assaulted one Osimosu Emmanuel Oluwafemi (male) by beating him all over his body,” which violates Section 351 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006. Additionally, Portable was accused of theft of professional music equipment, including a Yamaha H55 studio monitor, a Studio 2 interface connection cable, and an AKG P420 condenser microphone, in violation of Sections 384 and 390 of the same code.
Delivering judgment, Magistrate Ilo found Portable guilty on two counts: conspiracy to assault and unlawful assault. For the first count, the court handed a one-month jail term with an option of a ₦10,000 fine. For the second count, the singer received a two-month sentence, also with an option of a ₦20,000 fine.
