Marking his 73rd birthday in a solemn and spiritual manner, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his dedication to serving Nigerians with greater effort and commitment. The President, on Friday, participated in a special prayer session at the National Mosque in Abuja, emphasizing the importance of faith and resilience in governance.
Following the Juma’at prayers, President Tinubu spoke with State House journalists, expressing profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for His continued guidance. “I am grateful, I feel at peace, and we acknowledge the blessings of Almighty Allah for preserving us and listening to our supplications. Worship remains a fundamental pillar in our lives, and we must always uphold it,” he remarked.
The President seized the moment to offer prayers for Nigeria’s stability, security, and prosperity. Stressing the need for perseverance, he stated, “Success is built on hard work and devotion. One must work diligently and pray fervently. That is the lesson I take from this experience.”
President Tinubu arrived at the National Mosque at precisely 1:44 PM, where he was welcomed by key political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President Sulaiman Barau, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari, and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila. The gathering also included leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and notable Muslim dignitaries from across the country.
During the event, Chief Imam of the Abuja Central Mosque, Abdulkadir Sholagberu, commended President Tinubu for his philanthropic efforts, particularly his support for Nigerians during the holy month of Ramadan. The cleric emphasized that charity and kindness should extend beyond Ramadan and called on citizens to continue their acts of generosity.
Drawing from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Sholagberu encouraged Muslims to remain steadfast in prayers and acts of charity. “The Prophet instructed us to support the less fortunate, especially during Ramadan, as such actions bring rewards that transcend this world and extend into the hereafter,” he noted.
The Chief Imam also expressed appreciation for the President’s role in ensuring that gifts and relief materials were distributed to fasting Muslims nationwide through the Office of the First Lady. “Muslims in Nigeria have consistently prayed for the nation’s success and for Almighty Allah to grant you wisdom, strength, and longevity to lead effectively. Mr. President, have faith—your efforts will yield success,” he said.
Commemorating his birthday with the two-rakat Juma’at prayer, President Tinubu devoted the occasion to seeking divine blessings for the country’s peace and progress. Reflecting on nearly two years of leadership, he acknowledged the challenges faced and reaffirmed his resolve to drive positive change.
Presidential spokesperson highlighted that the President’s 73rd birthday comes just two months before the second anniversary of his administration. Onanuga reiterated Tinubu’s unwavering belief that Nigeria’s potential can be fully realized through unity and perseverance.
Reaffirming his commitment to democratic governance, economic revitalization, and national unity, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and resilient. He called on citizens to continue praying for divine guidance and healing, reinforcing his administration’s dedication to building a nation where prosperity is accessible to all.
“Serving this great nation is an immense privilege, and I remain deeply thankful to Allah for the gift of life and the opportunity to lead. As we approach our second anniversary, I am filled with renewed optimism for Nigeria. Let us all remain steadfast in prayer and unwavering in our commitment to national unity. Together, we will overcome our challenges and build a thriving nation for every citizen,” he concluded.
