Marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and religious tolerance as key pillars for national progress.
A Plea for Unity and Leadership Support.
Addressing worshippers at his palace on Sunday following the Eid-el-Fitr prayers that was announced yesterday, the Sultan underscored the significance of collective unity in fostering national progress. He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for leaders and work towards strengthening the country’s development.
“It is imperative that we continue to pray for peace, stability, and the well-being of our leaders. Progress can only be achieved when there is unity and cooperation,” he stated.
Tackling Security Concerns Through Faith and Dialogue.
In light of Nigeria’s security challenges, the Sultan encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and offer prayers for the nation’s stability. He acknowledged the dedication of security agencies and urged Nigerians to engage in constructive dialogue rather than unwarranted criticism of leadership.
“Our leaders are striving to address the country’s challenges. While accountability is necessary, it should be expressed with sincerity and respect, not through baseless accusations,” he added.
Preserving Ramadan’s Core Values.
Before concluding his address, the Sultan reminded Muslims of the importance of upholding the virtues of generosity, patience, and self-discipline instilled during Ramadan. He called on all citizens to continue fostering mutual respect and cooperation for a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
His message reinforces the collective duty of every Nigerian in strengthening national unity and promoting a culture of harmony and understanding.
