Tigran Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen who was detained in Nigeria, has expressed profound gratitude to several American lawmakers for their support during his incarceration. Now recovering from surgery and reunited with his family, Gambaryan took to social media to acknowledge the efforts of key congressional figures who stood by him during his ordeal.
He extended special appreciation to Rep. Rich McCormick, describing him as a true representative who provided hope when he felt completely alone. “You supported my family, taking time away from your busy schedule, and for that, I am profoundly grateful,” Gambaryan stated.
He also thanked Rep. French Hill, who he said witnessed firsthand what he endured, and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, who visited him at Kuje prison, showing compassion. Additionally, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick was recognized for his visit, despite Gambaryan not being his constituent.
“You are all true patriots, and I look forward to seeing the incredible work you will continue to do in the future,” he wrote, emphasizing his pride in being an American and commending the U.S. government for standing by its citizens.
Gambaryan’s detention in Nigeria sparked diplomatic concerns, with U.S. officials and human rights advocates calling for his release. His recent message marks a significant moment following his freedom and recovery.
