Awka, Anambra State– President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today embarked on an official visit to Anambra State, marking a significant moment in federal-state collaboration as he unveiled several major development projects completed under Governor Charles Soludo’s administration.

The President touched down at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, shortly after noon aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft. Clad in traditional Igbo Akwete attire and a signature red cap, President Tinubu was received with full military honours, including ceremonial salutes from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Governor Soludo, alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, members of the state House of Assembly, and other top dignitaries, welcomed the president at the airport before escorting him to the next phase of the official itinerary.

President Tinubu’s visit centers on the commissioning of several strategic projects which the Soludo administration has branded as “legacy infrastructure.” These include:

  • The Newly Constructed State Government House
  • The New Governor’s Lodge — the first of its kind in over three decades
  • Solution Fun City, a tourism and leisure development
  • The Renovated State House of Assembly

In addition to the commissioning, the President is set to preside over a high-level stakeholders’ town hall meeting at the refurbished Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. The forum is expected to bring together political leaders, business figures, traditional rulers, and civil society representatives to engage on issues of governance and regional development.

Ahead of the visit, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs, issued a directive discouraging the display of party insignias or uniforms at the event, reinforcing its non-partisan and inclusive nature.

Awka, the state capital, has undergone visible beautification in recent days, with streets cleaned, structures repainted, and security heightened — all in preparation for the high-level presidential visit.

Joining the President on his visit is National Security Adviser Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu, along with several other key federal officials.

President Tinubu’s presence in Anambra marks a milestone in strengthening relations between the federal government and southeastern states, as well as a show of support for ongoing transformation efforts across the region.
