Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has raised alarm over the alleged theft of over ₦180 million from the account of his non-governmental organization (NGO). According to the activist, the organization’s account was hacked, resulting in the diversion of the funds.
In October, Otse launched the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, which received over ₦35 million in donations within hours of its debut. Shortly after, renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy, contributed ₦100 million to the initiative.
In a video posted on his social media handle, Otse disclosed that the stolen funds were traced to an unknown account. He stated, “Honestly, I’ve not been myself for the past few days. Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested.”
Otse confirmed that the account has been placed on Post No Debit (PND) to prevent further unauthorized transactions. He added that while ₦20 million remains in the account, ₦160 million had been diverted. “We’re heading to Jos to recover the money,” he said.
The activist also revealed that the NGO’s app had been temporarily shut down for maintenance to prevent additional breaches. He assured supporters that updates on the situation would be provided as investigations progress.
